Description

NGC 6726-6727-6729 IC 4812 & the globular cluster NGC 6723

It is a very rich field with one globular cluster, three emission and reflection nebulae, three diffuse nebulae, three double stars and Herbig-Haro objects. NGC 6729 is an emission and reflection nebula located 424 light-years from Earth and one of the closest star-forming regions. It is powered by a variable star R corona Australis.
NGC 6726 and 6727 and IC 4812 are two blue reflection nebulae, where stars are surrounded by large clouds of dust that reflect blue light from stars. Be 157 original is also a small and faint reflection nebula.

There are multiple Herbig Haro objects in this image (not all of them are distinguishable), they are seen as small arcs of bright gas that contain stars in formation.

Dark nebulae are also present, especially Bernes 157 and 158, which is so dense that starlight in and behind cannot shine through.
n the upper right corner, the globular cluster NGC 6723 shines with a magnitude of 6 to 6.8 of class VII, consisting of stars of magnutude 14 and below.
